Sarah Jones biography told by her colleague and friend Anna Maria

After a successful 20 years as a Veterinary Nurse, Sarah decided to change career and focus her caring nature towards humans. We were privileged that she chose The St School to do that and in 2017 she qualified as a Soft Tissue Therapist. It was immediately clear that the body made sense to her. She had and still has this ability to effortlessly integrate biomechanical understanding with a holistic and psychosocially driven view of the person.

With her background as a gymnast, gymnastics coach, and mum of two young athletes, Sarah already had a strong foundation in movement quality and injury management. Her experience exposed her to the complex challenges of adolescent injuries, and she quickly recognized a gap in care between massage therapy and physiotherapy. To bridge this gap, Sarah pursued specialized training in adolescent injury care, becoming the only Soft Tissue Therapist in her cohort. This focus has shaped her career, and she is now a well-regarded Soft Tissue Therapist, specializing in injury rehabilitation at her clinic in Wiltshire.

Sarah’s deep knowledge of injury pathophysiology and rehabilitation is matched by her dedication to improving training standards in Pregnancy Massage and enhancing women’s access to care for Menopause.

Practising Massage in Pregnancy with an already evidence informed knowledge made Sarah aware that training in this subject was still lacking behind current understanding doing a disservice to the therapists training and people accessing their services. So when we offered she grabbed the opportunity to collaborate with myself in creating content for a fully up to date and comprehensive course on Massage in Pregnancy, which she now is the lead tutor of.

In addition to her work in Pregnancy Massage, Sarah established a Menopause Café to provide access to evidence-based knowledge empowering women with the right information, so they have agency to make informed choices and take control of their care.

As all of us here at The ST School Sarah is seriously committed to CPD and In her seven-year career, she has completed more quality CPD courses than many peers with decades in the field. What truly sets Sarah apart, and why she was asked to be part of our team, is her unwavering drive to constantly reassess and update her beliefs, knowledge, and practice in light of new information. This humility and dedication make her a trusted source of knowledge, respected by peers nationwide.

On a personal note, Sarah is the person who keeps me alive (literally) during conference trips and teaching weekends. Without her, I’d likely get lost in hotels, show up in the wrong outfit, and go all day without a sip of water. So, thank you, Sarah!
