Lymphoedema Management for the Manual Therapist

Comprehensive training in the most evidence based method of Lymphoedema Management, designed for Manual Therapists. This training will take you through the research and evidence for Fluoroscopy Guided Manual Lymphatic Drainage (FG-MLD), treatment protocols, and hands-on skills for Lymphatic Drainage treatments.
Course Summary
This course will deliver a thorough understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the lymphatic system, providing you with the knowledge and skills to recognise and treat, lymphoedema and chronic swelling.
By the end of the course, you will be able to design and implement appropriate research and evidence based individualised management, selecting from a range of the latest therapies and new innovations and provide Fluoroscopy Guided Manual Lymphatic Drainage (FG-MLD/Fill &Flush) to clients with upper and lower limb lymphoedema.
Entry Requirements
This training is suitable for all bodyworker & manual, massage therapists with a Level 3 Massage Diploma or above, who have undertake at least 350 hours clinical work.
Please note: Degree trained healthcare professionals may be suitable to attend our ‘Lymphoedema Rehabilitation Programme’ training course.

Assessment Criteria
All students will undergo a series of course specific formative & summative assessments.
Throughout the course you will be assessed through observation of practical tasks, written assessments, assignments, research and online tests.
Course Contents
Within this course you will be able to recognise lymphoedema, it’s types and causes, be aware of differing treatment strategies and provide bespoke treatment plans.

- Psychosocial care
- Compression therapy & Garments
- Manual Lymphatic Drainage – FG-MLD
- Innovations in practice.
​On completion you will gain practical qualification of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (FG-MLD) of the Upper & Lower Limbs.
