Recognising Red Flags Part I
Online via Zoom
Recognising Red Flags – Part I is a webinar designed to provide massage and manual therapists with up-to-date evidence and current clinical guidelines on red flags and contraindications. The content is relevant across musculoskeletal care disciplines, with particular focus on the scope of practice of massage, sports massage, sports therapy, and soft tissue therapy practitioners.
Knowing when, and when not, to refer is an essential clinical skill. While Red Flags can indicate serious pathology requiring referral, many commonly cited contraindications are based on outdated understandings of massage and manual therapy mechanisms. This webinar clarifies these distinctions to help prevent unnecessary treatment avoidance while supporting safe, appropriate, and evidence-informed clinical decision-making.
This course is firmly grounded in clinically applicable knowledge, using real clinical scenarios to reflect the most common presentations. Practical examples of referral letters are also included.
Enrolled participants will receive:
- Access to the webinar recording
- Presentation slides
- A Red Flags and Contraindications booklet
- Templates for GP referral letters
Sometimes the most effective treatment decision is recognising that a client’s needs may be better met by another healthcare professional. Making that decision at the right time can prevent unnecessary harm and, in some cases, serious consequences. Be the therapist who refers appropriately and timely!
Recognising Red Flags – Part I is followed by Part II, which explores specific conditions and their symptoms in greater depth, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Osteoporotic Compression Fractures to mention a few. To book on Part II click here
