This hybrid workshop has been designed with the practicing Soft Tissue Therapist/Sports Therapist in mind and aims to bridge any gaps between previous trainings and the most up-to-date knowledge of assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation advice for people suffering with Knee pain.

The Knee – The Modern Massage Therapist’s Approach to Knee Pain is a hybrid course (2 live online classes + a full 1-day practical workshop) where we explore what a Modern hands-on approach for knee Pain looks like in Massage and Soft Tissue Therpay clinics. We will learn an evidence-informed approach to the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of knee pain which reflects the enormous paradigm shift that is taking place in the field of manual therapy, where evidence is showing that a pathoanatomical view and approach to pain is not as useful as we thought it to be.

Course Format:

Two live online evening classes

1-day practical workshop

The online sessions will provide the underpinning knowledge of current understanding of knee pain, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. These sessions will be fully interactive to facilitate learning which can then be implemented when we come together for a full day, in-person, hands-on workshop.

Course content will include:

  • Introduction to pain science in relation to knee pain
  • Understanding knee pain within a BPS framework including common causes of pain and injury of the knee
  • Learn to assess the joint and recognise when to refer
  • An exploration of different knee-specific tests and their reliability
  • A step-by-step approach to assessing knee pain
  • Soft tissue approaches for knee treatment, including Muscle Energy Technique (MET)
  • Mobilisation and manual therapy techniques to improve knee range of motion (ROM)
  • Evidence informed rehabilitation protocol for knee pain, including progression and regression baselines

This course is designed especially for Massage and Soft Tissue Therapists who want to update their knowledge to help people with their Knee Joint Pain, weather it is following  an acute injury or connected to a condition like Osteoarthritis.

There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss real life cases that you have encountered in clinic.

Very much committed to clinical practice still, she draws from that knowledge spanning two decades to translate theory and research into clinically applicable strategies.

Well known for her italian flair, Anna Maria’s delivery is fun, expressive, and passionate, facilitating interaction and discussion of ideas while providing a solid focus on what that knowledge may look like when in front of the client.
